The Month of Completion
Halfway through the year and my foundation has been rocked by loss. There was the passing of my father and my husband’s grandmother only weeks apart. Plus, some of my close friends also lost family members.
As we entered July, the month of completion, I found myself questioning God’s plan for us. Is this a sign for us to look to Him? A calling to form a closer relationship with Him before time runs out?
So, I want to ask if you are fully complete? If death comes to your doorstep, would you be ready for it? Have you fulfilled all your dreams, traveled the way that you wanted, and most importantly, served the way you needed to serve?
With what’s left of this year, I encourage you to reflect on the months that have passed and release what has not served you well, so that you can refocus and regain direction. We have six more months in the year. What legacy are you building towards?
Welcome to the year of Sisterhood, Movement and Empowerment
As 2023 came to an end, I spent a lot of time reflecting on the past to gain the power and understanding that I needed to move forward. I kept thinking about the women who came before me – how their fight for equality became a legacy that was passed on to me - /or passed on to many.
I thought about how they came together and found strength and courage in one another, moving each other towards a goal and finding their individual voices in the process.
When I think about those women, I can’t help but question why now, so many of us spend energy on trying keep each other down. We criticize, judge and nitpick, when we need to band together and uplift.
We were all created with individual gifts and talents that no one can take away and that the world desperately needs. I am not threatened by your gifts; you should not be threatened by mine.
That led me to my focus words for 2024 – the words that I will let drive my work this year: Sisterhood, Movement and Empowerment.
This year, I am opening myself up to doing and receiving more and I want to take as many women with me on that journey. This year, we come together to fight for the things that we desire. We will work to create sacred space for each other, to support one another and encourage one another to dream big, ask for what we want, and become great in this world.
This is the movement that I want to build and pass on to the next generation.
So, as we move further into 2024, I hope you will join me. Let’s uphold each other and keep each other accountable. Let’s fight together, laugh together, cry together, and shower love on each other. Most importantly, let’s leave no woman behind.
